At PTDA our mission is to untap and release the potential of every student by: encouraging creativity, promoting self-confidence, providing affordable instruction for all students--and doing so in a fun and enjoyable atmosphere.

Welcome to Prime Time Dance Academy! My name is Kamaria Hooker and I am the founder and director of Prime Time Dance Academy. I began my dance journey at the age of 2, under the direction of my mother. I trained for 18 years in the styes of ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop, liturgical, African, modern and pointe.

When I was a child I remember dancing in the foyer of my childhood home and imagining the day where I could create a dance. I searched my moms cd binder, with hundreds of artists, different genres, new and old music and found the perfect song. I'd play the music and dance, started the music again, and danced. I loved it. I loved being the creator of my own masterpiece. Unleashing every ounce of creativity I had in my little body. It was this moment that dancing and teaching dance was something I wanted to do with my life.

As a teenager I began writing and dreaming of directing my own productions. In 2010 that dream came to fruition. Some of the productions that I have had a pleasure in directing are: Annie, Lion King, Swan Lake, A Christmas Carol, The Wizard Of Oz, Hairspray and Cinderella just to name a few.  After directing my first show it seemed like Gods plan for me was revealed even more, as he continued to move me in the direction of directing even more performances. I've had the pleasure of working directly with the incredible men and women of the Lee County Lions Club  for over 10 years now by directing performances for their fair parade as well as choreographed for headliners for the Saturday night shows.  I have also had the privilege of choreographing for programs across the state including Mt. Calvary Word of Faith where the Rev. Shirley Caesar presides, NAACP Banquet (Sanford, NC), Girls World Expo, The Boys and Girls Club of America, PDY, Stop The Violence Event,Sanford NC's Streetfest, and other local programs and events.

Dance is a true passion for me because it allows so much room for self expression. Dancing has opened many opportunities and doors for me that you wouldn't imagine. That is why it is my goal to give every child possible the opportunity to dance. I strive to make each relationship with my students a personal one and to give each dancer an experience that is unique to each individual student.
